Cirques VS TTL COD4 Match
Written by GrnMtnDragon: March 25th, 2008

Intro by F1at1ined
The Cirques recently took on the fine folks at Tied the Leader (TTL) Gunslingers division, for a best of 5 games match. The Gunslingers prevailed in the first four games, and for the final match, TTL Gunny suggested that we just mix up the teams between TTL and Cirques, which we did. This is why only four games are listed.

It will come as no surprise to anyone that the long and short of it is, TTL is very good. Anyway, the scores and a brief synopsis can be found here as written up by Grn.

Headquarters on Showdown: Score 180-150 TTL

We led this game for the first 14 minutes, but a number of unfortunate spawns, as well as their superior killing ability, sealed our fate and TTL overcame us in the final minute when the HQ spawned on the other side of the map from us.

Search & Destroy on Crash: Score 4-0 TTL

I was observing and our valiant fighters just kept getting killed too quickly by a very much more experienced TTL team. We couldn't penetrate their defenses and got eliminated 3 straight without planting the bomb.

On their one offensive run, they planted it, but eliminated the last team member before it detonated. This was the most lopsided of all the games and shows that TTL plays this game type well and frequently ... and we don't.

Sabotage on District: TTL Wins!

This one went back and forth for a long period of time, but TTL's overall skill level simply took it's toll and the inevitable happened with about 5 minutes left in the 20 minute round.

Domination on Ambush: 200-143 TTL

Again, we led this game for a time. We successfully held and/or recovered 2 of the 3 flags (Alpha & Bravo) for about 1/3 of the game and built a lead, but then TTL flanked us and took Alpha and Bravo, forcing us into the weaker Charlie side of the map.

After that, we traded Bravo back and forth a bit, but they bottled us in and kept us from mounting any kind of a serious challenge. Score 200-143 TTL.

As previously mentioned, since they had already swept the match, it was decided that game # 5 would be mixed among the two teams. I was a little bummed out about this at first, because I think we had a puncher's chance to finally take a point off of them in Hardcore, where we had our strongest team of the night. However, everyone seemed to be fine with mixing it up, so I didn't object.

If anyone wants to assemble an All Star team from among all Geezer clans to take on TTL, I would encourage it. But as the Captain of this squad, even though we didn't take a point, I'm very proud of how we represented Geezer Gamers in general and the Cirques in particular. We've made some new acquaintances which will hopefully turn into inter-clan friendships with the TTL guys, all of whom were great to game with and against. A few of us w ent into matchmaking with them after the the match wound down and had a blast. We also didn't lose a game.

I strongly encourage all Geezer Gamer clans to approach Tied the Leader about CoD4 matches. Interactivity between our two great online groups can only improve our gaming experience and open us up to meeting more fantastic people.

Thanks to all the TTL guys for a great match and especially to TTL Gunny for coordinating things with me. It was great working with you and I look forward to many more gaming experiences side-by-side with the good people at Tied the Leader.
