Game 2: Hardcore Shotguns on WetWorks (shotguns, pistols, knives only...no 3 x frag or RPG perk...no air support) Score: Cirques win 1000-940 Brief Game Summation:Close quarter fighting, with liberal doses of high explosive frags and deadly pistoleering.
Cirques had choice of spawn, and chose SAS spawn. DTH got Spetsnaz. This map was pretty symmetrical, so spawn choice wasnt really an issue. Cirques began with the idea of using high ground/terrain, but this was quickly scrapped as deadly accurate pistol fire and well placed grenades were quick to scupper that plan. DTH took an early lead and probably led til around the 700pt mark. However, the Cirques were able to counter-punch with good grenade tossing of their own, and a quick switch to pistols saw them able to match DTH kill for kill.
Finally, the Cirques managed to put together a string of nice grenade kills and deadly pistoling. F1at1ined broke through the DTH line and went on a bit of a knife rampage before NikSmudge caught him from behind. This surge pushed the Cirques into the lead and they never looked back. Buoyed by this, the Cirques pushed on, and were able to match DTH kill for kill. Because the Cirques had sneaked out to a 60-80pt lead, matching DTH was going to suit them just fine. The final kill was obtained by Kit, using her trusty shotgun. Its not just the Halo shotgun this lady likes.
Kudos this game go to Krazi and F1at, who amassed near identical scores. However, once again, it was a team effort. Kit chipped in with some timely kills, as did Mania and Bovine. Inde was also giving as good as he got. Everyone communicated and worked well as a unit. For DTH, Ghost and NikSmudge were demons with their use of grenades. DTH employed some great tactics for this game. At one point, they employed a spotter, and they also utilized perks like deep impact to great effect. They were also very effective in using stun grenades to locate lurking Cirques, and followed it up with a frag to kill the stunned Cirque. Tactically, DTH probably out thought the Cirques, but I guess the Cirque teamwork managed to prevail here.
Match score: DTH: 1 Cirques: 1
Game 3: Domination on Crossfire (no restrictions except air support was disabled) Score: Cirques win 200-128 Brief Game Summation: Gunfight at B flag for pretty much the entire game.
DTH chose Marines for this game, and the Cirques ended up with OpFor. For this game, the Cirques had worked dilligently on a strategy and were actually counting on getting the OpFor spawn. Its generally perceived as the lesser spawn, but we had a plan to make it work, and in hindsight, the plan worked better than we could have hoped. The key flag is B flag on this map, as its quite tough to retake, and its very defendable. Actually, all the flags are.
As expected, A and C flags were quickly snapped up, and the fight centered around B. A planned and timely flanking assault by F1at1ined managed to cut down two of the DTH assaulters heading for B, and the 4 other Cirques whose mission was B flag were able to secure the flag for the Cirques. Then it was a matter of locking it down with a combination of grenades, gunfire and explosive booby traps. DTH threw themselves repeatedly at B, only to be rejected by staunt defending by Kit, Mania and Krazi. Krazi patrolled the building by B, and allowed Mania and Kit to focus on the flag area.
