Last night, the Cirques and DTH hooked up for a skirmish that was designed to provide valuable experience for both sides. For some, it was their first foray into a competitive COD4 environment. The entire match was played in great spirits, and every game brought out the best in both sides. From the first bullet fired to the last, a great time was had by all. The Cirques were led by F1at1ined, whilst the DTH Select were led by GrnMtnDragon.
Game 1: Team Deathmatch on Overgrown (20 min time limit, or first to 1000 pts). No restrictions. Score: DTH wins 1000-990. Brief Game Summation: Action packed, tense and down to the wire. A nailbiter.
DTH had choice of spawn and chose Spetsnaz, putting them in the train tracks area. Cirques were SAS, giving them the Sniper Ridge side. The first 3 or 4 minutes were very tentative, with both sides feeling each other out. Kills early on were a real premium, as the Cirques looked to defend around building #2, as the DTH troops probed and scouted around looking for weaknesses. The Cirques actually held Building #2 for a while til one too many breaches by determined DTH assaulters forced the Cirques out and ended up around the columns at B flag spawn. The initial exchange had been in the Cirques favor, but DTH had succeeded in scattering our troops, and methodically began to squeeze the Cirques, attempting to deprive them of valuable real estate. This tactic worked out well, as DTH saw their small deficit turn into a small lead until the Cirques once again ended up back in building #2. The game went down to the wire, with neither team able to pull away from the other. In the last 100 points, I think the lead changed hands maybe 4-5 times. The final lead change happened with the final 2 kills, with DTH managing to thwart the Cirques 1000-990, scoring the final 2 kills just before time expired.
Kudos to Krazi, who led the Cirques in kills, and I gather was quite the tunnel rat. She got great support from her teammates, with F1at also chipping in with a lot of kills. Everyone contributed on the Cirque side. A special honorary mention to FreightShaker69, who was not slated to play in this match and so did not really practice it. He performed admirably and you'd never tell he was a last minute substitute. For DTH, DTH officer Midnight Ghost led by example, proving to be a master of infiltration. His teammates ably supported him, and DTH JC Flu got the plaudits for getting the final kill. A great finish to a great game.
