Ahhh the trip mine. It beeps. It glows. It sometimes kills your own team. It occasionally kills the enemy. This piece of equipment is not exactly stealthy like COD4's claymores or C4, or COD:WaW's bouncing betties. In fact, it may as well have a big sign that says 'I'm Here - Look At Me Glow and Admire My Beep'. That said, it still can be dangerous when used creatively, such as quick tossing it in front of a vehicle, or hiding it under an innocent looking Mongoose. After hours of research performed by our team of research analysts (well, OK, it was maybe an hour or so and my team comprised of me), I found out who our Trip Mine King is. Read on to find out who!
1st - RevDotNed: 187 kills Rev is king of the trip mines amongst the CdG folk! His impressive 187 kills puts him well clear of almost all Cirques, and he has a healthy lead over 2nd and 3rd place. I know that Rev often deploys the trip mine in fiendish ways and places, especially on maps such as Rat Race, where the warthogs are very susceptible to them. 187 kills is a fine total, and his title of trip mine king is well deserved. Congratulations Rev! 2nd - RoVino: 155 kills Ro sits in 2nd place at 155. He has Bloke nipping at his heels, but is quite a trip mine blitz behind our first place Cirque. 155 is still an impressive total, however, and is a worthy podium finish. I was under the impression that Ro did not use the trip mine that much, but this killcount suggests he likes to deploy the beeping, glowing disk of doom. Nice kill total, Mr. RoVino. 3rd - A Mad Bloke: 147 kills Bloke rounds out our top 3, with 147 kills. Like his fellow slayers in 1st and 2nd place, Bloke is far more adept with other weapons of mass destruction, but it shows that you shouldn't forget the trip mine. His kill count would be 147 less if he chose to ignore it like a lot of us do. You and Ro are pretty close, so it will be interesting to see if the pecking order will change over the next month or two. Congratulations to our top three! The top three for this weapon of destruction do happen to also be amongst the top slayers in the clan. However, the overall totals, though well clear of 4th place, do still seem to make up a very low total of their overall killcount. I guess the beeping and glowing really does make this trip mine tough to get kills with. After reviewing this, and compiling all the kill totals for the rest of the Cirques, 187 kills looks like a staggeringly impressive total. As always, second accounts weren't considered, but even if they were, I suspect the top three would remain clear of the pack. Here is the rest of the Cirque top 20. And no, I am still not in it. I need to do a top 20 COD:WaW Kills article, methinks... 4th - Dolphan117: 84 kills 5th - Alphawolf 45: 69 kills 6th - VetiverDreams: 62 kills T7th - the dihn: 58 kills T7th - ErickBob: 58 kills T9th - ThePacifier: 51 kills T9th - xzzy: 51 kills 11th - PylDryvr: 38 kills 12th - Beaver NTN: 37 kills 13th - Addict3d 2Cha0s: 36 kills 14th - IXI Quasar IXI: 35 kills 15th - Sro26: 32 kills 16th - Sleeveen: 30 kills T17th - Adumbration: 28 kills T17th - Wizard W01 - 28 kills 19th - Pharaoh Bender - 27 kills 20th - LegendCalledJim - 26 kills Honorable Mention: 21st - KitKatGrrl: 23 kills Kit pouted so much that she was not in the previous top 20, and so here she can admire her name in lights as the 21st best with the trip mine! Woot! If you're not on this list, chances are you think the trip mine is just one of those annoying things you carry around until you can swap it out for a regen or bubble shield or grav list. I do not know if the kill count reflects betrayals of your own team. It might explain Alphawolf's lofty position in 5th, but doesn't explain Sro's 15th place. Then again, Sro can usually betray with lots of other weapons. Special shout out goes to VetiverDreams, who has really proven to be quite a mean trip mine planter. Aside from being a vicious base defender and grenade thrower, apparently she takes delight in trip mine explosions as well. Way to go everyone! So, to conclude - yes, it beeps. Did I mention it beeps? Yes, it glows. Did I mention it glows too? But should we be hasty and cast it aside? Perhaps not, given this evidence here. So, next time you see a lonely undeployed trip mine, remember to pick the poor thing up, and go deploy it somewhere away from teammates so it can do what it does best. No, not beep. Explode! Ohh..just as a word of warning, I don't recommend you try this deployment method...
Til next time....BEEP BEEP BEEP KABOOM!!
